PS3 remote play may be possible with Playstation Vita

The Playstation Vita has just bulked up it’s lineup with the news that the handheld may be able to play PS3 games via Vita Remote Play. The connection will be made possible in an upcoming firmware update for the PS3 and will display PS3 games at the 480×720 resolution used by the original PSP. Eurogamer are also reporting that in the future developers will be able to code in compatibility in future games that will allow them to run at 480p. Vita Remote Play allows for connection between Sony’s new handheld and their home system; a similar functionality was promised for the original PSP but it was rarely used.

Apparently the Japanese wing of Sony showed of this functionality in action at TGS by playing a copy of Killzone 3 streaming from a nearby PS3. He was able to control the game complete by using the touchscreen for controls absent from the Vita. Little Big Planet 2 was then used to demonstrate that a player on the Vita could play cooperatively alongside someone on a PS3. If the system works it will be the closest two systems have ever worked together and the first real foray into the world of game streaming in the world of games.
