Rock Paper Shotgun are definitively reporting that Alan Wake will be coming to Steam for definite. This news was all but confirmed when Remedy’s spooky shooter showed up in some Steam data, as well as a Remedy employee teasing that they would have information on a possible PC release for the game in the very near future. The promotional image that RPS laid their hands on claims that the game will be coming to the PC in early 2012. A Steam release for the game is strange considering that the title is owned by Microsoft Game Studios who seem hell-bent on keeping people on their own Live service.
Remedy, who were once considered to be one of the PC’s best developers, caught a significant amount of fan fury when it was announced that Alan Wake would be an Xbox 360 exclusive some years ago. The game came out at the beginning of Summer 2010 to poor sales and positive fan reaction. It tells the story of a successful horror writer who travels to a small hamlet in the American Northeast in search of a cure to his writer’s block. Instead he finds something much worse and becomes embroiled in a fight against the darkness itself. An Alan Wake mini-game is coming to Xbox Live next year in the shape of Alan Wake: American Nightmare. There is now word of if this game is also coming the PC.
