Wipeout 2048 intro

Even if you found Wipeout’s demanding sense of speed and unconventional controls to be too challenging it was always an amazing game to watch and look at. This was mainly down to the strange pan-Asian future that was created by the Designer’s Republic. Unfortunately that company is now gone but Studio Liverpool proved with Wipeout HD that they were able to create a similar aesthetic. This intro for Wipeout 2048 shows off that things are going to look a little closer to how we know them in this racing prequel. It shows off the evolution or racing, from an old jalopy right up to Formula One and then into the future:

Wipeout 2048 is the first Wipeout game in just over three years and one of the definite attractions in the Playstation Vita launch lineup. It comes out alongside Sony’s new handheld on the twenty-second of February and I think it could be instrumental in making the platform a success in the West after a decidedly tepid Japanese launch. As much as I like the intro that music definitely isn’t up to the standard we are used to from the series so hopefully the stuff in the full game is better; at least it’s not dubstep I suppose.
