Sony have finally taken the PSP Go around the back of the barn. After an incredibly underwhelming life Sony Japan has put “shipment ended” notices on the two versions of the handheld available from their site. The move comes after retailers and blogs began circulating a rumour that the system’s time was almost up. The system was the first major attempt by one of the big three console developers to make a system that had no physical media, the system only offered games via the internet through the PSN store.
The PSP will still be available through the 3000 model which will continue to be sold as normal. Sony have said that the move was made in order to allow them to focus more fully on the NGP which is due for release in Japan later on this year. If you are interested in the system from the standpoint of being a collector or are simply insane, the PSP Go will remain on sale until current stocks are sold out.
