New Age of Empires on the way?

In 2008, Microsoft announced they were closing down Ensemble Studios following the completion of Halo Wars, which caused many to believe that the Age of Empires franchise would die with the studio. At the time, Microsoft denied it was the end of the series, telling The San Francisco Chronicle "we're very excited about the future potential for Age of Empires". Edge later confirmed, in an interview with Shane Kim, that Microsoft continued to own Age of Empires and that they had plans to continue the series.

Today we may see the first evidence of that. Last night Microsoft created a new folder on their press site titled Age of Empires, at 22:23.

Could this be the first indication of a new title in the Age of Empires series? With PAX and TGS just around the corner, we may not have to wait long to find out.

Its a pity that recent age of empire's (specifically 3) are pieces of crap that can no longer compete....

Personally i believe they should make a new Age Of Mythology game. AOM and AOMT have done beeter than any Age of Empires game so far and to not make a sequal would be an insult to the whole "Age Of" fanbase.

I agree with "Myth_Elite". Make a Age of Mythology II. A game like that should hit the top 1 at the lists in NOTIME!

So whynot make a new "Aom" ? there is money to make :O

Yeah I gotta agree there, I loved age of mythology, because everyone wants to command huge monsters n shit. And that mythology stuff is well cool.

i would love either AOM2, or a remake of like AOE2 with better graphics and newer ideas... I dont want anymore more modern than AOE3, cuz i loved AOE from the midevil fighting....

AOE3, may not have great support anymore, but Alan (Lord of skinny), AOE3 was and still is a great game. There is nothing crappy about it, the game is insanely good and fun. I have played it for years and still find it fun and it doesnt feel old at all (yet)

I think a new age of mythology would be better than a WWI/WWII era game. All the ships and planes would be entirely too complicated and hard to manage. Also I felt that AOM missed out by not including any Asian Mythologies such as that of Japan and India so adding them would be Great

Will the new Age of Empires have a camo. upgrade to specific units? I've always wanted to see camouflaged units in a game. Will you get to make a 2-4 pattern camouflage ,that would be awsome. Could you do that to the planes and tanks too?

It will be a fun ride seeing who makes the next age of empires game ie Robot Studios or Bonfire Entertainment. Maybe they are even going to work together on it D : / But if it's a WW1 or WW2 game the series is ruined forever in my opinion. Age Of Mythology 2, Then Age Of Mythology 2 "The Fallen Titans" is the way to go. I'm going to buy the collectors edition of the next game just in case LOL > : D

you guys are all retarted... ww1 would be the cooolest and moreso a perfect addition to the aoe franchise imagine planes, snipers tanks it woulds be perfect for the older ones also a newer remake of the very first aoe would be good too.

AoE 4 would ruin the medival charm the previous three had. They should go to an AoM sequel or something. There are thousands of rts with tanks and planes but few medival ones that are as awesome as the AoE series. Microsoft be smart and don't fuck up such a good series

PLEASE DONT MAKE IT FUTURISTIC!!!!!!! I've been longing to play a newer and better version of AOE 2. I didnt particularly like AOM. Medieval all the way! :D

The golden age of the Age ofs was AOE 2. I remember i had a great time playing that game. interesting, unique, historical, awesome and above all fun.
